Social Activism
Today I read this article in the New Yorker; it tries to explain the effect social media websites have on social activism. This is something that really gets me annoyed whenever I witness it, groups on facebook titled “Anti Geert Wilders”, “1 Million people against Government Run Health Care” or “Our Military Troops Deserve Better!” Alternatively of posting about it on a pretty isolated place on the internet where you’re basically only counting numbers. Why not go out there and try to make your statement clear with your actual voice? It’s completely understandable that groups try to start up a community of equal minded people when it comes to international issues like global warming, but when it’s something like local politics I see no reason why you should sit behind your computer screen and blast off your frustrations 140 characters at a time.
If you’re interested in a more professional description of this issue here’s the link to the original article @ the New Yorker

Blast from the past
A lot of free time to spare lately it seems, after watching Black Hawk Down tonight, one of my favourite movies. I decided to reinstall the Delta Force game that goes by the same name, which I personally consider a classic. What are some other games from the late 90s/early 00s that are considered must plays?

Alice goes on a trip
Besides the obligatory viewing of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland during ones youth, I never bothered to look into the actual books until last week. After being left confounded by some of its dialogue, I decided to see if the movie cleared some of it up.
This made me notice something I obviously hadn’t done as a child, and maybe I’m just over analyzing but, there seems to be a heap of drug symbolism showing up in the movie. Or am I simply seeing things that are not there?

The name is Bond.
This week a new book was released going by the title, MI6: The History of the Secret Intelligence Service. Written by Keith Jeffery the book puts the history of the Secret Intelligence Service between 1909 and 1949 down on paper.
Not only does it describes the history of the agency but, as well how some of its agents and their exploits were an inspiration for author Iam Flemming his Bond novels.

Bodybuilding
Like most other lifters I can get quite agitated when someone thinks it’s all about looking like the Hulk and being intimidating. So that’s why I like the post this video since Schwarzenegger explains it quite nicely around the 2:25 mark. That and the clip is just hilarious.
